A free mirroring, monitoring app for WhatsApp

Whatscan is a free QR scanning app that lets you scan the codes from the communication app WhatsApp. The scanner, developed by Waqt, lets you use the chat app on multiple devices. You just have to scan the QR code of the original chat account and it will mirror all content on the original device.

Though it only works with WhatsApp, Whatscan is surprisingly powerful. Users can check messages sent and received, as well as all photo and media files sent through the account. Additionally, they can even lock the other phone.

Like your own app

Whatscan is a tempting app to monitor another’s WhatsApp account: it is small in file size, installs quickly, and can be used immediately. With its full-screen QR scanner, you only need to scan the other device’s WhatsApp QR code and it will automatically connect. You will see that it has successfully mirrored the other device because it will show you exactly what appears on the app homepage of the target device.

Now that you’re connected, you can just close the other user’s app. Even at a distance, you retain access to the other device provided you stay connected. If you’re disconnected for a while, it will update itself once you’ve reconnected–just like using your own chat app account, but on a different device. You can even use your own device to send files to the contacts of the other account.

While it can be used by parents to monitor their children regularly, it can be used by untoward elements for doing illegal activities. Imagine getting your sensitive files or your personal information stolen and used for other purposes. While the QR code scanned by the app expires after four days, it’s still a lot of time and so proper vigilance and precaution are still needed.

Use with caution

For parents attempting to monitor their kids, Whatscan is a good app to give them a level of control and visibility over their children’s activities on their devices. It is small, installs quickly, and is easy to use. However, this can also be used by other lurking, bad elements that might do illegal activities with the content and data available from your WhatsApp.

In Softonic we scan all the files hosted on our platform to assess and avoid any potential harm for your device. Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.

We’d like to highlight that from time to time, we may miss a potentially malicious software program. To continue promising you a malware-free catalog of programs and apps, our team has integrated a Report Software feature in every catalog page that loops your feedback back to us.

Flag any particular issues you may encounter and Softonic will address those concerns as soon as possible.
